Elegant Bird Obsession!

I love my Stampin' Up! Big Shot and all it enables me to do, with minimal talent!  lol.  This Elegant Bird die is an example.  In hopes of becoming more regular at posting here, I'm going to allow myself to share photos without much chatter unless I have time or someone asks in comments.  If you want to know how I've done something, please ask!  :)

Gift Tags for Faculty

I was tasked with creating 25 gift tags for a local private school, Loomis Chaffe.  Their mascot is a pelican, and school colors are red and white & gift wrap was silver.  All items except for the Pelican Stamped Image are Stampin' Up! products.  Here's what I came up with.  :)

Doing My Part... One Monogrammed Note Card at a Time

I have loved my "Lovely Letters" stamp set since I first set eyes on it.  I've planned to make note cards but seem to be distracted by other newer sets.  Fast forward to April, I discovered Stampin' Up! demonstrator superstar, Ang/aka' ChicknScratch, Monogrammed Note Cards & instantly my passion for this Lovely set was reignited.  I'm hoping that receiving these will encourage recipients to write and send real notes (that's how I'm doing my part to bring this tradition back).  The above was designed for my niece who's birthday just passed.

RECIPE:
Stamp Set: Lovely Letters Alphabet
Card Stock: Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Whispering White (40 sheets), Designer Series Paper Patterns, In Color 2011 (#122384)-cut at 2 x 4-15/16", Whispering White Note Cards & Envelopes (20 of each)
Ink:  Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron & More Mustard
TOOLS:  Circle punches in 1-1/4 inch1-3/8 inch1-3/4 Inch Scallop Circle Punch, & Scallop Edge Border Punch

My New OBSESSION - Paper Roses! (Tutorial included)

As I write this post, I am still in a state of wonder!  I simply cannot believe I made these.  And you can too; these are not difficult if you have the tools.  Each one took me about 20 minutes and I've only made 4 so far.  Here are the tools you need:

All items are Stampin' Up! and can be purchased on my website Click here to shop
119847 Ornament Punch - $16.95
119860 1-3/8" Circle Punch - $15.95
116631 Paper-Piercing Tool (not shown) - $3.50
103683 Mini Glue Dots (300 dots)- $4.95
102892 Sponge Daubers (set of 12) - $10.95
Stampin' Up! Card Stock (an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet makes 1 Rose)
Stampin' Up! Classic Ink Pad

1. Punch out one circle, and then as many ornament punch-outs as you can ; these are the petals!
*I used So Saffron and Pretty in Pink card stock.

2. Using the Sponge Dauber and a Classic Ink Pad, ink up the edges of each petal. You'll want to use an ink shade that's darker than the card stock.  I used Red Riding Hood ink with the So Saffron Rose, and Melon Mambo om the Pretty In Pink Rose.
*You can use a Stamping Sponge (101610- $3.50. 3 to a package, you can cut into 4 pieces. These are a little messier on the fingers though).

3. Use the Paper-Piercing Tool to slightly curl the left and right sides of at least 8 petals.

4. Using a glue dot* to attach the bottom tag of the petal to the outer edges of the circle.  You want to slightly overlap them.  After you've covered the first outer part, push the tab up so the petal will stand up a bit.  Attach the next row of petals slightly infront of the first petals.
* You can use Sticky Strip (104294 - $6.95) or Tombo to attach the petals but it adds time to your assembly.

5.  You will continue attaching petals in this way until you reach the center of the flower.  Be sure to curl the remaining petals alot more; you can uncurl them to achieve the shape you want.

6. Before attaching the final petal, curl it up and attach it to itself near the bottom half to create a slight funnel shape.

TADA!

My Favorite Sale.a.brations Stamp Set

Sale.a.Brations ends on this Saturday, and I am going to be so sad to see the Fresh Vintage stamp set and Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (DSP) go. I think the paper is the prettiest to come out in quite some time (and you know how I love my DSPs).  Remember you receive a FREE product from the Saleabration mini catalog with every $50 you spend.  Click here to download the mini Sale.a.bration catalog.  You can order through www.itsmesusan.stampinup.net to receive "preferred customer" pricing,

I'm going to share a few more Fresh Vintage designs here.  Before I do I want to give credit to Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Patricia Barber, whose designs inspired my own.

The Little Bird Who Could

This little guy is from Stampin' Up!s Nature's Walk set.  I wasn't planning to get this set, but it was required to with my SU regional conference registration, and have since fallen head-over-heels in love with it.  When using black ink on colored paper you get a completely different look.  I'll design some of those soon (I have them stamped but haven't done anything with them yet).

Which is your favorite?
